Ports
I have used this quad on both Spektrum (SBUS) and Crossfire (CRSF) and the wiring is pretty much exactly the same. The Crossfire requires a TX and RX if you are going to have telemetry but you can also run the Crossfire in SBUS mode and really have no wiring changes.
For the Crossfire I used the TX1 port on the back of the flight controller and the SBUS pad on the top (RX1). That seems to work well. I use the Runcam with the TX/RX and not the camera control. I wired those to UART4 . UART6 is the default ESC input on the 4in1 header so I used that. For the TRAMP I added a softserial and remapped the LED pin because it was so close to the other VTX solder points.
To add soft serial follow these steps:
- Enable Soft Serial in the Configuration Tab, restart the FC
- In the ports tab change the SOFTSERIAL 1 Peripherals to IRC Tramp
- In the Betaflight CLI remap the LED pin with the following
- resource motor 5 none
- resource led_strip none
- resource SERIAL_TX 11 B08
- save
- Make sure to save and power down the flight controller and all should work.
PIDS
This quad flies really well with the defaults. I will post more as I come up with alternate tunes,
Notes
- You could update this to a 6s by switching out the motors to the 1600KV motors.
- If you don’t have the RX/TX version of RunCam you can solder that line to the CAM_C pin and you are all set.
